“South Georgia Ice Company in Tifton, GA :: I think next time I’m down that way I’m gonna park my backside in a chair right where I took this and just wait for a black person to walk by and catch them under where it says “ice” on the building. Hopefully an older age one with a cane. If the building were darker in color I’d want the person walking by to be white. It’s not a race issue, it’s a tonal relationship issue. So don’t get your panties all in a tangle over me wanting it to be a black person in this case. I love this shot.”

So earlier, I posted this shot with the caption as you see it above, and it wasn’t something I posted without giving thought to first. Well, within minutes of posting this I received a message from a well meaning friend letting me know I was on a slippery slope by what I said about wanting it to be a black person walking through it and why. I’m actually making a point by what I said. Basically that being that we too often make things into a racial issue when we shouldn’t these days. That’s why I chose to say that rather than just saying I wanted to catch it with an old person walking by with a cane and leaving it at that. What I said about it is intended to make people think, and yes, potentially ruffle their feathers until they have thought through it. Sometimes things or choices in life have nothing to do with whether somebody is black or white. It has to do with who is the better fit for the job. And that’s how it should be. This shot and what I’ve said about it is nothing more than a visual representation of that.
