These are a couple more shots from my new series I’m doing of southern people, places, and activities. I just happened to be riding by this South Georgia tobacco field and saw this storm coming in. Thunderstorms like this are a pretty common thing in South Georgia and North Florida during the heat of summer — sometimes they can be expected almost daily around 3:00 or 4:00 PM. They’ll bring heavy rain accompanied with bad lighting and winds sometimes — and they may only go on for fifteen or twenty minutes — if that — then the sun will come back out. They’re fun to watch. It can be great to sit on the porch and watch them pass through. Then, the sun coming back out again makes the world around you feel like you’re in a giant sauna, forcing to you to retreat back to the comfort of an air condition living environment.
