I like to challenge myself and my iPhone to see what all I can manage to capture effectively with it. Well this past weekend I was up visiting my friend, Jack, at the horse farm he manages, and while there he had “Landra” out for a ride. Landra is one of their rockstar horses there at Hillmar Farm and this shot is of Jack taking her over a 4′ jump — and this isn’t her or Jack performing at their best. It was just a random day at the farm. I saw the opportunity to possibly get a cool shot with my iPhone and this is what I came up with by laying on my stomach a few feet away from the jump. I’m pretty happy with what I managed to get. With this type of photography on a DSLR you would just put it on high speed mode and rattle off shots steadily as they went over the jump and pick the best of the bunch. The iPhone is only fast enough to take one single exposure per jump though – so getting the timing right was the tricky part. I took several and this one, I’m told, shows the best form in regards to the Landra and Jack.
