I shot this with my iPhone at my girlfriends parent’s house the other day while there celebrating her birthday. I just happened to catch this elephant ear at their front walkway as the sun was setting and shining through it – backlighting it. It looked beautiful to me. Maybe sixty seconds after I took this it was all gone due to the sun falling below the roofline of their house. I saw it and captured it with only seconds to left to do so. Not sure what it is about it, but I love this shot.

I’ve been really busy with work recently, I’ve got a great girlfriend, and great friends and family. Life really couldn’t get much better, yet, I’m still pushing myself for more in regards to all that I want to get out of life. Photos like this help remind me to stop and appreciate where I’m at, and all that I already have, rather than constantly pushing myself to do more – chasing after what’s next in life. I think, maybe, that’s why I love this shot.
