Sniffin’ them out. :: This is one of the Whistling Wing team members catching wind of some quail before actually getting a good visual on them. Looking at this now, I think about how unsafe some of what I was doing out there was to get these shots. I was paying close attention to where I was in relation to where their gun barrels were pointed – most of the time – staying right by their side so I could get the hunters perspective and where it was safe. I apparently slipped up here and was more focused on what I was shooting than my own safety. This shot is photographic proof of me being an idiot when it comes to photography sometimes. Being in the same general direction that the dog is sniffing / pointing with somebody standing behind them with a loaded shotgun is NOT safe. This was actually just plain dumb of me, and I know better. So yeah. Don’t try this at home kids.

Edit: The more I think about it, I realize there must be somebody standing next to me, either Jeremy (the other hunter) or Chris (the guy directing the dogs) that you can’t see in the photo. I wouldn’t have moved into a position like this. I remember being hyper aware of where I was in relation to the guns when I shot these.
