I shot this just down the alleyway from where I shot yesterdays photo of the day – in Asheville, NC on Chicken Alley. Both the photo that was randomly taped to the door, and the number on it being 72 1/2 amused me. Apparently idiosyncrasies such as this are really common in that area of town. When I shot this I was thinking it would be B&W, but after looking at it on my monitor I realize that the colors work too well together to take them away – even though I like the look the shot more in B&W. The toned B&W print stuck to the door ties into the brown color on both the door and beige color on the wall around it too well. It’s in stark contrast to the brightly painted walls that are just 100 yards or so are from it (see yesterdays shot of the day). So, I feel that I’d take away some of its oddness by taking the color out.
