Atlanta Portrait Photographer: “Glasses?!?!? Highlights?!?!?!? We don’t need no stinkin’ glasses and highlights!”

Julia recently got new glasses – the pair she’s wearing here – but only after having to twist her arm to convince her she looked great in them. Both the store clerk and I immediately responded “THOSE” when she first put them on. She didn’t seem to trust our opinion – but still bought them – reluctantly.

I can possibly see the store clerk saying she looked good in them just to get the sale and us out of the store so she could move on to the next customer, but why would I – her husband – lead her astray? Especially when I feel women can look so incredibly attractive in glasses that fit them well.

Since then she’s gotten all kinds of compliments on them. So, hopefully, I won’t have to twist her arm again next time in regards to something I’ve plainly told her looks great on her.

The glasses aren’t the only change she’s made that I was aiming to capture in this shot, though. Even though I didn’t capture it well: she got her dyed/highlighted for the first time ever. It’s a shock to me that she’s gotten to her age without having *ever* dyed her hair due to remembering girls getting their hair dyed as early as middle school age. Like I said, you can’t really see it in this shot, but whoever did it did a good job. It’s very subtle – but still noticeable.

So, her coming in from the salon that day prompted me to take her outside here at our place for a few quick photos, even though I didn’t really feel like shooting anything that day. This is a more serious one from her where you can really focus on the glasses and hair. Do not despair though! I captured a couple more just seconds after this in which her personality shines so bright that it steals the show.
