I recently was hired to shoot a series of portraits for The Macallan Group, an Atlanta based conglomerate of construction and real estate companies. I did the portraits at their offices in order to make things as efficient and easy as possible for them.

I often have people ask me if I have a studio I work out of, as if creating traditional studio type portraiture work requires a dedicated studio space. It does not. As a location photographer, I have lots of experience with making all different types of environments into my studio as needed. This ability is of great value to business people and businesses that have little time to give towards having portraits made.

The following shots were all taken in an empty office space there at The Macallan Group. The photography itself is pretty straightforward once the lighting is set up. The real challenge is being able to capture each person at ease – quickly. Once they’ve gone through makeup (if present) and then had my assistant tidy them up – they are only in front of my camera for maybe five minutes. If that. I work hard to capture a variety of expressions that can be used depending on what message they want to convey to the viewer of the photograph they choose to use for various applications. I delivered all of the finished files to The Macallan Group in color, black and white, and this toned look that I’m sharing in this post. Their marketing director was thrilled with them.

It makes me happy to make my clients happy, and I seem to have no shortage of them to make happy these days. Business is good. For that I am most grateful.
