iPhone Photography :: 02.14.15 Photo Of The Day :: The Artist

Earlier today, I was chastised by a friend (cough Em Thomas!) for my failure to post my photo of the day for the past two days – which is fine. I did ask for people to give me crap about it if I didn’t in my original post  when I stated my intentions to consistently post one per day. She’s just being a good friend. Right, Em?

The whole photo per day thing has proven to be really tough on some days – obviously. Sometimes it’s not just the time to process it, but the time it takes to make sense of my thoughts in regards to it, and then figuring out how to write those thoughts concisely. Sometimes it’s tough just deciding which one to post next. I sometimes feel like I make things far more complicated than they need to be when comes to photography. Business has been great for me, and I’m most grateful for that, but, I have been having to put other things on the back burner. Like – this.

So, I’m actually writing this on Monday, Feb 16th – but I will be dating it as being posted on the 14th – and I intend on posting one for the 15th too – just to honor my decision to post one per day.

I actually shot this on Saturday the 14th – Valentines Day – of my sweet Valentine, Julia. We had a great day together, part of which consisted of going to a local pottery place and painting pottery. She’s painting me another “Hey Handsome” mug here since I tragically broke the first one she made for me. And me – I ended up painting her a heart shaped jewelry box. Both should be ready to be picked up on Wednesday – I look forward to seeing how they both turn out.

As usual, I couldn’t help but pick up my phone and catch a shot of her as she worked. Painting pottery is very calming once you stop stressing out about how you’re going to paint it. I think she had more fun than I did because there was no stressing about how to paint for her – she just started painting.
