My New Website & Blog!

This is one of the many shots included in the iPhone gallery here on the new site. It’s an available light portrait I shot with my iPhone, and one of my all around favorite portraits.

Several months ago my friend, Don Giannatti, mentioned to me that I really needed to look into putting up another website due to my old one not being very search engine friendly at all, despite me liking the overall design of it. He told me he would help me with it, but I still put it off until the past few weeks due to knowing how much time it can take to get another one put up. I’m not quite certain why I waited until I was very busy with other jobs to take him up on the offer, but I did. So, over the past few weeks I’ve been working on this on and off, making minor changes, while still working: shooting, processing files, invoicing, and marketing. It feels like every waking thought has been consumed with photography or work for me here recently because of all this. It hasn’t stopped and I have a lot more to do still. I’m just so glad to have this site where it feels finished — for now at least.

What’s new in it? Well, most of the galleries include about double the amount of work I showed in each of the galleries on my old website, with a few words from me in regards to how I approach that type of work. The home page and main portfolio page is set up purely for style, with no written distractions other than the main menu across the top, though. It all is HTML and “responsive” now. Meaning, the site can be viewed on iPhones and iPads, and will even adapt to what it’s being viewed on to fit its screen better, while still maintaining functionality through its controls. I’ve added in two new galleries — a kids portrait portfolio, and a iPhone portfolio that includes images I shoot in my day to day life with my iPhone.

My blog is also integrated into my website now, so rather than sending people to my blog for blog post and then including a link from there to my main site, like I had to do on my old blog, it’s all together now. On top of all this it is all much easier to update, so now, I intend on switching out images in the various galleries on a much more regular basis. I also plan to add another additional gallery in the near future that will feature a specialty area of photography I really aim to do more work in. There is still the more formal about page on my main site, but I have also included another Meet Keith page on my blog that shows the lighter side of me in an effort to help potential clients understand who they’re going to be working with better.

I owe a huge — HUGE — thank you to Don Giannati for his patience with me in helping me get this thing put up. He’s a photographer, designer, teacher, author, husband, father, and most importantly, he is just a great human being all around. I also need to thank Jennifer Coker, Diana Sawyers, and Julie Shipp for taking the time to edit and proof various written content on the site. You all know my writing skills are not the best, so having each of you take the time to point out various errors , offer suggestions to correct them, and make things read better is very much appreciated.

And finally, to each of you that have encouraged me or supported me in one way or another over the years, whether it be hiring me to shoot for you, retouch for you, assist for you, teach me, or just encouraging me through some of the amazing compliments you’ve given me — thank you. I’ve been working feverishly here recently to try and live up to my potential in life — and not disappoint any of you. You all are actively allowing my dreams to come true through your support. I couldn’t do what I do without you.
